Irish Creek to Release Its First Retail Homesites

Kannapolis, N.C., Oct. 13, 2008 – To coincide with the grand opening of its nationally acclaimed golf course today, Castle & Cooke Carolinas Realty LLC has announced the release of $3.96 million worth of homesites.

The 28 homesites include golf, lake and wooded views.  They range in price from $105,000 to $240,000 and in size from .53 to 1.45 acres.  Site tours will begin on Oct. 18, and the homesites will be released for sale on Oct. 25.

This is Irish Creek’s first homesite release available to the public.  Seven custom-home builders – Custom Homes of the Carolinas, Elrod Custom Homes, Hughes & Associates, Lopez Homes, T.D. Feeney Construction Co., Whitline, and Zande Homes – purchased the initial 29 homesites earlier this year.

Construction is now underway on eight homes, ranging in price from $875,000 to $1.4 million.  The first three homes are expected to be finished in January.  Home inventory is available at LiveAtIrishCreek.com/Inventory.html.

“With the North Carolina Research Campus opening later this month, we’ve gotten numerous inquiries from prospects who expect to relocate here, but who don’t need a home quite yet,” said Greg Inggs, vice president of residential for Castle & Cooke.  “This homesite release will enable them to get in on the ground floor and reserve their spot in Irish Creek.”

Buyers will have two years until home construction must begin, and they will be able to work with any custom-home builder in Irish Creek’s Featured Builder Group.  Residential exteriors and landscaping are subject to review to ensure high architectural standards and preservation of the extensive tree canopy.

The Irish Creek sales cottage opened earlier this month at the community entrance off of West A Street, two miles north of the NC Research Campus.  The sales cottage is open seven days a week, 9:00 to 5:00 Monday through Saturday and 1:00 to 5:00 on Sunday.  For directions, go to LiveAtIrishCreek.com/CottageDirections.html.

Castle & Cooke Carolinas Realty has also named Doug Sadosuk as sales associate for Irish Creek.  Previously he was a sales and marketing representative for one of the nation’s largest homebuilders, helping them sell homes in neighborhoods in Concord and Kannapolis for more than 10 years.

Irish Creek is a 650-acre upscale residential community designed to support the NC Research Campus by providing high-end housing to executives relocating their companies to the campus, as well to homebuyers in the greater Charlotte area.  The community encircles a Davis Love III Signature Course recently selected by Golfweek magazine as one of the best new courses in the nation.

Like the NC Research Campus, the golf community is the brainchild of David H. Murdock, owner and chairman of Castle & Cooke as well as the Dole Food Company.  Murdock selected Love Golf Design because of his desire for a walking-friendly course that would reinforce the campus emphasis on nutrition and health.

The David H. Murdock Core Laboratory and the UNC-Chapel Hill and NC State buildings of the NC Research Campus will open on Oct. 20 with a special dedication ceremony.
